Su sonido, podríamos decir, se enmarca dentro de la especie melodiosa del emo de su época: simple, armónico y pausado que, con ciertos brochazos de enérgicos y potentes riffs, deja un sabor bastante agradable después de unas repasadas.
The exploration was started as a side project in december two thousand and eight, before it evolved into a band, and then fell apart.

Samuel was a band from state college, pennsylvania. They were active in the mid-1990's, releasing two 7" ep's (self titled and lives of insects) on the label art monk construction. The band also released a split 7" with texas is the reason on the then brittish label simba. Samuel definitely played among the crowd of mid-90's 'post hardcore' or 'emo' bands. However, their sound probably owed as much to more straight forward 'indie rock' as it did to any of the member's hardcore roots.
The lives of insects ep was released on a cdep with two additional songs. (Last.fm)

Polaris began in the autumn of 1993 in the Hyde Park area of Leeds. Founding members were Neil, Ilan, Andy and Johnny. Ilan left in 1998 and Joe took his place.
Polaris played their first proper gig at the Caribbean Club in Preston on March 17th 1994.
A split single with fellow Hyde Park band Baby Harp Seal was released in December 1994 on Kwyjibo records. The first album 'Belated' was released on Common Cause records in 1998. Other songs have appeared on various compilations, a full discography is below.
Polaris's second album on Gringo records has just been released and can be ordered directly from gringorecords using the magic buttons at the bottom of the page, or may be obtained from band members directly, possibly at a lower cost depending on the mood of the vendor.
Polaris (Andrew Pollard Guitar, vocals, Joe O'Sullivan Guitar, John Ford Bass guitar, Neil Turpin Drums) release their second album on April 10. For a band that's been around since the mid-nineties, that might seem a little slow, but there's more to Polaris than meets the eye. Formed in Leeds in 1993 and featuring members of bands like Bilge Pump and Quack Quack, Polaris have quietly become godfathers of their now exploding local scene, turning at their own pace and never compromising quality for quantity.
Through their first album 'Belated', many appearances on splits and compilations and the reputation garnered from their infrequent but incendiary live shows, Polaris are legends to those in the know. To those that aren't: where have you been?
Their new self-titled album sees Polaris perfectly capture their unique command of the rolling rhythm and irresistible bassline. But the key is the teetering balance between the uplifting and the deeply sinister that has been a constant in all their work over these past 13 years. For every joyous moment of bright melody there is a flipside of dark, resonant, foreboding heaviosity. Their skill is to perfectly employ the two contrasting sides to create a unique and harmonious whole. Polaris are set to burst out of the box marked 'Best Kept Secret'. Make sure you're around to witness it. (gringo records)

In the summer of 1993, James Quigley, along with friends Way O'Malley and Henry Evans began creating music together. Through word of mouth, they found drummer Sean Gilchrist and guitarist Paul Vieira who had been playing together for years. Practicing for hours in a small barn out in Charlestown, Rhode Island the five members wrote songs quickly and easily. In just a few months they were recording their four song cassette demo at Sampson Studios in Tiverton, RI with engineer Keith Souza (now owner of Machines With Magnets in Pawtucket, RI). Numerous local shows followed. The band recorded more songs for a 3 song vinyl EP that eventually came out on Watermark records, though you would be hard pressed to actually find any anywhere! Later in '94 after a show at Club Babyhead, Henry was asked to leave due to "musical differences" and the band drafted in Shawn St. Martin who, despite playing some guitar, had never played bass before. More practicing and writing of songs followed with a recording for a full length album/demo for Columbia Records. Unsatisfied with the end result, the band decided not to release it and resumed recording other songs at Sampson. A 2 song vinyl EP and five song cassette were released on the Atomic Action label from Middletown, RI. Way decided to leave Beltaine in the early summer of '96. Deciding to continue as a four piece, the band sounded more focused and powerful and went on to record their full length cd for Atomic Action, titled Crowning The Caged Kid. In the next year waiting for the cd's release, Beltaine would play some incredible live shows with bands such as Jawbox, Bluetip, the Warmers, Kerosene 454 and others. Drummer Sean Gilchrist did a short stint drumming for Dischord recording artists Bluetip on their Feb/March '97 tour. Sean left Beltaine in November '97 and now plays in the studio/live for songwriter Leah Carlson. The remaining members found a new drummer and continued on for over a year as Woken By Wire, releasing an excellent 10" EP on Corleone Records. Guitarist Paul Vieira now plays in The Chinese Stars. I found this site after doing a search today. Once in awhile I'll type in the ol' bands name and see what comes up for the hell of it. Sometimes I think we were pretty underrated, especially when you see the bands that are around now. We had a four song casette demo released before the Watermark 7" and another cassette "sampler" before the cd came out (with 2 unreleased songs). In '95 Beltaine recorded an LP for Watermark (it was also a demo for Columbia) but was never released. I stopped playing with the band in October '97 and the guys got another drummer and former Woken By Wire. I thought the 10" was really good. Paul (my best friend since age 14) now plays guitar for The Chinese Stars who are pretty popular. I sometimes play live with my friend Leah Carlson and have played on two cd's of hers (recorded by Beltaine's old engineer Keith Souza). James does art, which is really incredible stuff. I'm a firefighter in Pawtucket and am hoping to do studio work with other musicians.- Sean (drummer). Posted by Beltaine member, Sean @ One Day Savior.

Pulling influences from the rock of Superchunk and Versus, the pop of Velocity Girl and the vocal beauty of Ida, Pohgoh remains, to this day, the quintessential female-fronted indie-rock band from “Emo’s” hey-day.
February 1994, Kobi, Matt and Brad form Pohgoh, with Keith joining on drums later in the Spring. They’re young, they’re having fun, they do two tours of the Eastern U.S. and release 3 records (all singles). Each set contains great hooks, lots of dancing and plenty of show ending noise. In November 1995, Kobi decides to leave for personal reasons.
January 1996, the boys recruit Susie, from Tampa’s Stitch. They’re still young, they’re still having fun, and they do one six week tour of the Eastern U.S., release 2 singles (one w/ our friends, Braid!), a full length and a song on Volume 1 of the “Emo Diaries” series. Each set contains lots of guitar, more great hooks, and still plenty of show ending noise.
Pohgoh bids farewell in a tear-filled final show on 2/21/98.
“All Along” is a 19 song discography containing every song ever released by the band during their 4 year career (1994-1998). Completely Re-Mastered, this disc includes Friend X from Volume 1 of the popular “Emo Diaries” series, the entire “In Memory of Bab” full length, Goodnight, Sweetheart from their split 7” with Braid, early rare releases featuring original vocalist Kobi and more!
UPDATE: In October of 2001, Susie was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She asks that you take the time to visit www.nmss.org.
On December 25, 2005, Pohgoh reunited for a one-night-only performance (along with other long-defunct Tampa greats Tomorrow, My Own America and Scrog) raising money to benefit the local chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
After quite a wait, the album is out. Of course, as these things go, Pohgoh have now been broken up for about a year or so, but that doesn't stop the album from being amazing and wonderful. Fantastic melodies grace indie/emo pop with strong, sweet, memorable female vocals. Ten great songs -- the kind that give you chills -- that are filled with subtly catchy guitar interplay, honest emotions, great hooks, and a nostalgic aire of melancholy.
Pohgoh stood out as one of Florida's best bands, and this shows exactly why. They will be missed, but at least we have this. Highly recommended. Outback Entertainment Group, P.O. Box 780132, Orlando, FL 32828

Project Kate was a short-lived, New York-based project that centered around Kate Reddy, one-time guitarist for Hare Krishna-inspired hardcore band 108, that included many East Coast hardcore scene notables. Project Kate songs were acoustically driven, laid-back ballads expressing Reddy’s private thoughts on her parents, marriage, spirituality, and love. Reddy recorded the album while eight months pregnant — and the love, warmth, and affection she felt for her soon-to-be expanding family is evident throughout the simple, yet heartfelt, recordings. Reddy began playing acoustic guitar with her friend Shannon in Shannon’s dad’s basement in 1987. But the Project Kate concept never formally materialized until 1991, when she began jamming with the then-Quicksand rhythm section of drummer Alan Cage and bassist Sergio Vega, who himself would go on to release solo material in 2000. They jokingly referred to what they were doing as “Kate” as they goofed around in a basement rehearsal space. The trio recorded three songs for free in July 1991 at Centerfield Studio. That fall, Reddy recorded a song called “California” by herself at the same place. Around this time, Quicksand signed to a major label and began touring and recording with far more regularity, so Project Kate fell apart. Reddy joined the Hare Krishna organization and eventually the band 108, married Equal Vision Records owner Steve Reddy, and began running the label with him. The two of them decided they wanted to release the Project Kate demo, but it was lost. Original engineer Mike Maineiri would later find the tape behind a dresser during a move, but before that happened, Kate Reddy had already assembled a new version of Project Kate and re-recorded three of the original songs, along with five new ones, in December of 1995 and January of 1996. These recordings, made with producer Ray Martin, surfaced as the album …The Way Birds Fly in 1996. the album carries a dedication to newborn baby Kaulini Reddy in the liner notes. The other musicians involved included then-Texas Is the Reason/later New End Original guitarist Norman Arenas (on the track “Simon Says”), bassist Vega, drummer John K., and violin player Ida Pearle. Texas Is the Reason/New Rising Sons frontman Garret Klahn was also involved to some degree.
