Cuando pienso en una banda siempre se me vienen ideas a la cabeza, por ejemplo, colores, estados anímicos, caras, recuerdos, pasos de baile, etc. Así, cuando escucho a Clikatat, me siento inmerso en un mar de pensamientos en blanco, en un estado sónico-letárgico, donde lo que está en el primer plano es la música, las voces lejanas del vocalista y las guitarras punzantes, pero no desgarradoras. Es una de esas bandas que las vas escuchando por las calles y pareciera que estás viendo todo con unas gafas mentales distintas, todo se hace más lento; es como caminar debajo del agua o en gravedad cero, sobre todo por la canción The Appliance, que cuando comienza a sonar, agudiza ese estado somnolente. Mucho ojo con la batería y la guitarra, ambas tienen un sonido muy particular que junta y pega perfectamente con la onda de los Clikatat.

12rec es un netlabel que no tiene grandes fines pecuniarios, pero que sí tiene un interés en abarcar un número de talentosos músicos de amplios estilos musicales. Se inspiran, como la mayoría de los netlabel en la autogestión y en la difusión gratuita de música (desde internet), con licencias de uso no comercial. También ofrecen el material en CD a precios muy accesibles, con artes muy bien terminados. Básicamente este sello es cuna de bandas post-rock, rock, electrónica y free rap.

Les recomiendo bajar todo (yo por lo menos lo hice así), hay bandas que les robarán gran parte de sus playlist por mucho tiempo, ejemplo: milhaven, james gardner (aka giraffe), junique fois pi, etc.

Bueno, se trata de Devendra Banhart, muchos lo conocerán por Vetiver. Postié este disco porque es bastante difícil de conseguir, es un registro de cuatro canciones que tuvo lugar durante el mismo tiempo de grabación del disco "Rejoicing In The Hands...", me pareció que sería bueno compartir este hallazgo con ustedes. Está buenísimo.

Recorded during the same sessions as Devendra's acclaimed 'Rejoicing In The Hands....' album, "Little Yellow Spider" is lifted off the forthcoming 'Nino Rojo' album and includes a live recording of 'Will Is My Friend' and two demo versions of tracks from the first album on the CD. Comes in another lush sleeve, penned by Devendra's unique hand. Loverly.

What Is Maybeshewill? Maybeshewill is the product of a broken laptop and four boys' over-active imaginations. They occasionally release bits and pieces of music through a label they invented one afternoon called 'Robot Needs Home Records'. Sometimes they play shows, though not very often. They'd rather sit at home watching films and stealing bits from them. Maybeshewill were formed in Leicester in the summer of 206, and released their debut EP 'Japanese Spy Transcript' in the autumn of the same year. Nottingham's Field Records stumbled across a copy of the record and asked them to be part of the first of a series of limited edition split singles, which was later to include such underground luminaries as Tired Irie, Cats & Cats & Cats, Public Relations Exercise and You Slut!. 'The Paris Hilton Sex Tape', taken from the bands debut was to form one side of the single, the other filled by Nottingham's Ann Arbor. The band toured in support of the release, culminating in a final show with Foals and Cats & Cats & Cats at London's Luminaire. Towards the end of the year, Maybeshewill licensed 'Japanese Spy Transcript' in a special extended form to The Media Factory Group in Japan, who formed an entirely new label, Xtal Records, to accommodate the release. Xtal is now home to the likes of Yndi Halda, Caspian and You Slut!. After an extended period of hiatus during 2007 the band have now completed recording of their debut full-length entitled 'Not For Want Of Trying', which will see a UK and European release through Field Records and a Japanese release through Xtal in May of 2008. The album was completely self produced, with DIY ideals at the forefront of every step of the records production.

Formed in 1999. The music of sgt is classic music, and the sounds of the noise, Emo, jazz, and the improvisation, etc. have mixed,It is like the technique of film music. The noise of the guitar wraps the melody that the violin plays. Guru guru

En 1966 Mani Neumeier (batería y voz) se encontraba tocando junto a Uli Trepte (bajo y voz) en una banda de free jazz el Irene Swch Trío, entusiasmados con sus influencias musicales, clásicas, contemporáneas, Hendrix, Pink Floyd y la música de India deciden formar una banda que contemplara mejor estas inquietudes. En 1968 forman Guru Guru Groove con la firme convicción de hacer “free rock”, luego de varios cambios de integrantes incorporan a Ax Genrich en guitarra y voz y en 1970 ya como Guru Guru, al integrarse al sello Ohr editan su primer álbum “UFO” producido por Conny Plank. Casi completamente instrumental con poderosos riffs de guitarra sobre una base firmemente consolidada de bajo y batería que abren espacio a enloquecidas improvisaciones decididamente psicodélicas. Continúan en esta vertiente y en 1971 editan “Hinten” donde la improvisación llega aún a más grandes alturas. Hendrix continúa siendo el referente pero el nivel de alucinación de Guru Guru de ninguna manera es alcanzado por J.H. Experience. La misma formación participa en “Kanguru” (72) Guru Guru continúa con su formación básica de bajo, batería y guitarra. Por el momento esto es suficiente para sus experimentos sonoros. En los temas se diferencian cada vez más dos componentes, Rock & Roll, cada vez más primitivo para abrir y cerrar e improvisación, cada vez más desquiciada como core de los temas. Es permanente el aire de locura. Se comenta que las actuaciones del grupo eran realmente delirantes, con la presencia en el escenario del Electrolurch (anfibio eléctrico) que habitaba en los circuitos eléctricos y nos proveía de energía y tenía a su banda deleitándonos con su música. Neumeier incorpora percusiones orientales y en algunos pasajes el sonido del grupo se suaviza ligeramente. Para el siguiente álbum “4” Bruno Schaab reemplaza a Uli Trepte en el bajo. El álbum aún más orientado al Rock & Roll aunque por momentos hay brotes de Jazz y sofisticación. En los siguientes años siguen editando álbumes con la permanencia de Neumeier y la rotación del resto del personal y con incremento de músicas étnicas y fusión., a veces como Guru Guru y a veces como Mani Neumeier. En 1999 se editó un concierto del 98 bajo el nombre de “98 Jahre Live”. (www.progresiva70s.com)

The Samuel Jackson Five, or the SJ5, started up a couple of years ago as a failed drum’n’bass-project. After numerous changes in material, instruments, visions and band members, we've finally released our debut album. It has received good reviews and enabled us to do a fair amount of gigs. The Samuel Jackson Five have always been an alternative to the mainstream acts and see no reason to change that now. We let each individual explore and push their own limits, without losing focus on the melody. The outcome is ever changing but often leads to ethereal, experimental, improvised, dynamic music. Or at least thats what we think.
